Welcome to Scottish Speedway.

Despite the obvious potential for both clubs in Scotland to do well in 2009, it turned out to be another season to forget for Glasgow, as injuries and perhaps some risky team selections meant the Tigers once again finished at the wrong end of the Premier League table. It had all started so well, with a hard fought win in the Spring Trophy over their fierce rivals and reigning Premier League Champions Edinburgh, but that was as good as it got for the Tigers in 2009 as far as silverware was concerned.

The Monarchs suffered themselves, and looked to be heading for a okay season as they attempted to retain the title, but a late surge saw them finish runners up in the League to King's Lynn, and they eventually reached the final of every other competition, to again face the new 2009 Champions King's Lynn in each final.

A narrow defeat in the Premier Trophy saw their 2nd piece of Premier League silverware head down to Norfolk, but they retained the Premier Playoff Trophy with a convincing aggregate win over the new Champions, before losing out once again in the KO Cup Final. The season ended with a very tired looking Monarchs side suffering their heaviest ever home defeat in the Elite League Play Off final against Belle Vue Aces, so it was just the Premier Playoff trophy to add to the Scottish Cup they had retained with home and away victories over a depleted Tigers team.

Glasgow finished off their season on 18 October with the Heathersfield Gold Helmet Junior Championship, won for the second time by Gary Beaton who also collecting the Scottish Junior Championship trophy in the process, with one of his most mature performances around Ashfield.

The new season gets underway at Armadale on 19 March 2010, with the Scottish Open Championship.
